Practical gardening—with nature in mind
 

JITG Gardening Services provides practical help to look after your garden while making it a better place for wildlife.
 

This is a hands-on gardening service, not simply a wildlife consultation.
I’ll work on the jobs your garden needs while looking for straightforward opportunities to support birds, butterflies, moths, bees and other garden wildlife.
 

You don’t need to have a large garden—or turn it into a wilderness! Small, sensible changes can make a real difference while keeping your garden attractive, manageable and enjoyable.
 

What can I help with?
 

Depending on your garden and the time of year, work can include:
 

• Weeding and general garden maintenance

• Cutting back and pruning suitable plants and shrubs

• Clearing and tidying beds and borders

• Planting and improving existing planting areas

• Seasonal garden preparation

• Creating or improving wildlife-friendly areas

• Advice on plants that provide food and shelter for wildlife

• Suggestions for bird, insect and hedgehog habitats

• Helping you make better use of ponds, hedges, borders and quieter areas

• Identifying simple changes that could attract more wildlife
   

Every garden is different, so we can agree the priorities before I begin.
 

Wildlife-friendly working

Wildlife is at the heart of JITG. Before cutting back, clearing or disturbing an area, I’ll consider whether it could be providing food, shelter or a nesting place for wildlife.
 

Where possible, I’ll suggest alternatives that allow the garden work to be completed without unnecessarily damaging valuable habitats.
This might mean leaving part of an area undisturbed, changing when a job is carried out or using a gentler approach.

What does it cost?

A two-hour gardening session costs £50.
 

This includes:

• Two hours of practical gardening

• A conversation about what you would like me to concentrate on

• Wildlife-friendly suggestions as I work

• Photographs or details of any interesting wildlife I find

If your garden needs more time, additional or regular sessions can be arranged.
 

Any plants, habitat products or other materials that need to be purchased will be discussed and agreed with you first.
